Global STEM Outreach Program - 2026 Activities

Get ready for an unforgettable summer of STEM education, cultural exchange, and adventure. Our Global STEM Outreach Program will be hosting three impactful outreach activities across the globe in 2026. Each trip offers a unique opportunity to teach and engage with students in underserved communities while exploring vibrant new cultures. Here’s a closer look at our 2026 program schedule:


1. Peru: Maranúa, Cusco and Puno (3 Weeks)

Dates: Summer 2026 (Session I: June 18th to July 2nd; Session II: July 12th to August 1st)

Location: Maranúa, Cusco and Puno, Peru
Duration: 3 weeks (including one week of academic STEM training)
Target Audience: Local students in Maranúa and Cusco (ages 10-18)

Schedule Overview:

Week 0: California, United State – STEM Training with the curriculum of Discovery in Microworld

Week 1: Maranúa, Peru – STEM Education and Community Engagement

  • Day 1-2: Arrival and Orientation
    • Meet your fellow volunteers and program coordinators.
    • Cultural immersion: Introduction to Maranúa and its local community.
    • Overview of the STEM program and logistical details for the upcoming week.
  • Day 3-5: STEM Workshops in Local Schools
    • Engage with students through interactive workshops on basic science, technology, engineering, and math concepts.
    • Hands-on activities related to the hydrophobic phenomena, scaling effect in microworld, and microfabrication of microstructures.
  • Day 6: Community STEM Day
    • Organize a community STEM event where students showcase their projects and present their solutions to local challenges.

                     

Week 2: Cusco and Puno – Advanced STEM Topics and Cultural Exploration

  • Day 7-8: STEM Workshops in Local Schools
    • Continue teaching advanced STEM topics such as material sciences application in microworld, structural color generated by microstructure, and micromachine technology.
    • Focus on student-led projects and fostering a deeper understanding of STEM concepts.
  • Day 9-11: Cultural Exchange
    • Take part in a local cultural exchange activity in Cusco and vicinity — exploring the history of former Inca capital Cusco and visiting historical sites such as the world famous Machu Picchu, Pisaq ruins and Ollantaytambo ruins in Sacred Valley.
    • Group reflection and sharing of experiences.
  • Day 12-13: Cultural Exchange and Farewell
    • Take part in a local cultural exchange activity in Puno exploring the world's highest navigable lake: Lake Titicaca, the mythical birthplace of the Inca civilization.
    • Group reflection and sharing of experiences.
  • Day 14: Departure
    • Travel back to your home country, leaving behind a legacy of education and inspiration.

                 

             


2. Kenya: Teaching and Safari Experience (2-3 Weeks)

Dates: Winter 2026 (December 13, 2026 to January 2nd 2027)

Location: Kenya and Tan
Duration: 3 weeks
Target Audience: Local students (ages 12-18)

Schedule Overview:

Week 1: Nairobi – STEM Education in Schools

  • Day 1-2: Arrival and Orientation
    • Arrive in Nairobi, meet local partners, and get acquainted with the program schedule.
    • Overview of Kenyan culture, local schools, and STEM challenges.
    • Introduction to the local educational landscape and community outreach.
  • Day 3-5: Teaching STEM in Local Schools
    • Facilitate engaging, hands-on workshops on science, technology, and engineering.
    • Delivering of the curriculum Discovery in Microworld in the form of 3-day workshop.
    • Students work on individual and group STEM projects.
  • Day 6-7: Community STEM Challenge
    • Organize a STEM competition where students work in teams to solve real-world problems in their local community, such as creating water filtration systems or designing low-cost renewable energy solutions.

     

                              

 

Week 2: Safari Adventure and Cultural Immersion

  • Day 8-9: Visit to Maasai Mara National Reserve
    • Explore the stunning wildlife of Kenya on a safari tour through Maasai Mara.
    • Learn about conservation efforts, the ecosystem, and the importance of STEM in environmental science.
  • Day 10-12: Cultural Exchange and Reflection
    • Visit local Maasai villages for a cultural exchange, where participants engage with Maasai students and share stories of innovation.
    • Reflect on the experience and discuss how STEM education can contribute to environmental and community development.
  • Day 13: Final Day of Safari and Community Activity
    • Continue the safari adventure, culminating in an educational session on how technology is being used in wildlife conservation.
  • Day 14: Departure
    • Return to Nairobi for your flight home, carrying with you unforgettable memories and experiences.

     

               

 


3. Kyrgyzstan: STEM Program for Local Youth (1 Week)

Dates: Summer 2026 (Exact dates TBC)

Location: Bishkek and Surrounding Areas, Kyrgyzstan
Duration: 1 week
Target Audience: Local students (ages 10-16)

Schedule Overview:

Day 1: Arrival and Welcome

  • Arrive in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
  • Welcome orientation and introduction to the local team and the community.
  • Brief overview of the STEM program goals and expected outcomes.

Day 2-5: Half-Day STEM Workshops

  • Day 2: Introduction to Basic STEM Concepts
    • Kick off the program with hands-on activities to teach fundamental STEM concepts, including circuits, basic programming, and simple machines.
  • Day 3: Introduction to Robotics and Engineering
    • Students will work with LEGO Mindstorms or simple robotics kits to learn basic robotics, programming, and engineering skills.
  • Day 4: Coding for the Future
    • A focused session on beginner-level coding, using platforms like Scratch or Blockly.
    • Teach students how coding powers their daily lives and provide resources for continued learning.
  • Day 5: Design Thinking and Problem-Solving Workshop
    • Engage students in a design-thinking challenge: using STEM to solve a local environmental or community issue.
    • Groups will present their projects to their peers.

Day 6: Community STEM Event

  • Students showcase their projects to the local community.
  • This event will celebrate the students’ creativity and achievements, fostering pride and excitement for STEM.

Day 7: Reflection, Farewell, and Departure

  • Reflection session: Students and volunteers share what they’ve learned and how the program has impacted their views on STEM.
  • Closing ceremony and departure for home.
